Mild tremors were felt in some parts of Chennai city at 9.12 pm on Sunday night, sending panic among the people.

Meteorological sources said that the tremors were felt off Nicobar Islands in the magnitude of 7.2 on the Richter scale.

The tremors were felt even by some of the employees on duty at the Met office. Further details are awaited.
