Milind Deora wins South Mumbai

Milind Deora of the Cong on Thursday wrested the South Mumbai seat of the Lok Sabha from BJP's heavyweight Jaywantiben Mehta.

In a major upset, Milind Deora of the Congress on Thursday wrested the South Mumbai seat of the Lok Sabha from Bharatiya Janata Party heavyweight Jaywantiben Mehta, the minister of state for power, in his maiden electoral foray.

"A constituency like Mumbai South needed a representative who understands commerce and business," 27-year-old Deora told IANS after the result was announced.

"There are also a huge number of first-time voters and it is important for young people to enter electoral politics," he added.
