An unidentified militant has been killed in an encounter with Assam Rifles personnel in Manipur's Churachandpur district bordering Myanmar and Mizoram, police said on Tuesday.

An unidentified militant has been killed in an encounter with Assam Rifles personnel in Manipur's Churachandpur district bordering Myanmar and Mizoram, police said on Tuesday.Following a tip-off, a combined team of 7th and 3th Assam Rifles personnel raided Leishang Village in the district last evening, officials said.

As they intensified the combing operations in the hilly area, they were fired upon, sources said adding that in the ensuing encounter with militants, an unidentified militant was killed.One 9 mm pistol and eleven live catridges were found at the spot, sources said.

The body has been sent to Regional Institute of Medical Science and Hospital here for post mortem.Over 130 persons were so far killed in militancy-related crimes in Manipur this year.
