Mohammad Saleem Dar (27), a mechanic, was shot by unidentified militants while he was returning to his Chanikhan residence in the town, 55 km from here, on Saturday evening, a police spokesman said.

Dar was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

This was the second attack by militants on Dar in the past two years. He had escaped with bullet injuries in 2008.
