Mine blast kills two navymen in Lanka

It is noteworthy that the attack should have take place on Pongal, a day of festivities for Lankan Tamils, reports PK Balachandran.

Two Sri Lankan naval personnel were killed and one was injured in a claymore mine blast at Saravanai Junction in Kyts island off Jaffna on Saturday, a naval official said.

It is noteworthy that the attack should have take place on Thai Pongal day, a day of festivities for the Tamils of Sri Lanka.

With this the total number killed since January 1, 2006 in the Tamil-speaking North-East goes up to 55.
