Minister sends notice of defamation to MP

Minister of State for Education Hassan Mushriff has sent a notice of defamation of five crore rupees to Sadashivrao Mandlik, MP Kolhapur.

Minister of State for Education Hassan Mushriff has sent a notice of defamation of five crore rupees to Sadashivrao Mandlik, MP Kolhapur, sources said.

Mushriff and Mandlik are Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders and from Kagal taluk. Since three years, a feud is going on between them. Hence, both are making allegations against each other.

Recently Mandlik made allegations against Mushriff and demanded an inquiry into the "illegal acquisition of property" by him. So Mushriff has sent a defamation notice of five crore rupees to Mandlik through an advocate Shivajirao Rane on January 14.

In the defamation notice, Mushriff said that Mandlik should prove his allegation and if not proved then he should beg forgiveness in newspapers within ten days. If Mandlik did not do that then "I will file a defamation case of five crore rupees in court," sources quoted Mushriff as saying.
