This would be done to provide the local artistes with maximum opportunities, he added. He further said that he would also explore the possibilities of giving an opportunity to local artists on the FM Channel from Lucknow, too.

The minister was here on Tuesday to inaugurate AIR FM Rainbow at Akashwani Kendra.
In his brief address, the minister said that soon the Channel would be upgraded to cover areas beyond 30 kilometers.
The existing one KW FM channel was effective within a range of thirty kilometers.
Since it was raining heavily, the programme started one hour behind the schedule, and the minister had to use an umbrella for addressing the audience.
The cultural programmes that were to be presented by the artistes from Lucknow had to be cancelled due to heavy rain.
He said that the government was planning to start a programme on the first War of Independence and it would start from Kanpur and Meerut, he added.
In case the scheme was materialised, local artistes would be given important roles, he further said.
Earlier, Union Minister for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal, who also addressed the gathering, asked the Das Munshi to provide the city with 10KW FM channel and facility of programme production.
He said that mere relay centre would not meet the aspirations of the people and the artistes.
The Minister expressed his dissatisfaction at the pandal through which water was seeping and said it was indicative of the fact that the Akashwani officials were not careful enough.
As per fixed schedule, the FM channel’s programmes would be aired from 7 am to 11 pm everyday. The program would start with the news. At every hour, the news update would be broadcast.
Director of the Akashwani Kendra VK Singh said that efforts were being made afoot to put the Vividh BhartiVigyan Seva of Kanpur on the FM Band.
The basic infrastructure for the conversion of the band was completed and it was expected that the service would start from the next year.
Chief executive officer of Prasar Bharti Navin Kumar and director general of All India Radio B Singh were also present at the function.
