Minor rapes minor
A FOUR-YEAR-OLD girl was raped by a neighbourhood minor boy in Aliganj on Tuesday morning. The boy has been arrested and the injured is undergoing treatment at the Avanti Bai Hospital (Dufferin). Angry with the incident, inmates of Shramjivi Women Hostel and local residents staged an agitation at Navin Galla Mandi Road in Aliganj for over two-and-half hours protesting the apathetic attitude of the local police. They alleged that the cops were reluctant to lodge an FIR initially.

Angry with the incident, inmates of Shramjivi Women Hostel and local residents staged an agitation at Navin Galla Mandi Road in Aliganj for over two-and-half hours protesting the apathetic attitude of the local police. They alleged that the cops were reluctant to lodge an FIR initially.
It was around 10 am when victim Leena (name changed) was playing outside her house and the neighbourhood boy Krishna dragged her into his house. Leena’s mother, a maid, was away on her job and had left her sister-in-law back home.
The girl’s aunt was busy in cooking food and was unaware about any such incident.
It was about half-an-hour later that some women came to girl’s house and informed her aunt that the minor was lying semi-unconscious in the neighbourhood house. The woman rushed to the house to find blood oozing out profusely from her private parts.
Leena’s mother was informed immediately and they rushed the girl to the nearby police outpost. The policemen sent her to the Aliganj police station from where the mother took her daughter to the hospital for the treatment and the medical examination.
On the other hand, the local residents caught the erring boy and handed him over to the police. The cops quizzed the boy as what drove him to commit such a ghastly act. The boy replied that he used to play with the girl frequently and on Tuesday too he had taken her to the house for the same. The boy revealed that he was repenting what he did as he never knew that the girl would get injured.
While the victim was sent to the hospital, the inmates of the nearby women hostel gathered at the Galla Mandi Road and staged a blockade. The local residents too joined the girls. The agitators were demanding action against the cops of the Galla Mandi outpost who did not attend the victim’s mother.
They alleged that the crime against women was on the rise in the area but the cops were indifferent to intensifying patrolling. The girls of the women hostel alleged that the local goons gather outside the hostel daily and pass lewd remarks at the girls. But, the local police never take cognizance of the complaints from the girls. The agitation ended only after the senior officials pacified the agitators.
