THE BJP MLA from Devari constituency in Sagar district Ratan Singh Lodhi Silarpur on Wednesday accused the State government of harassing people of ‘a particular caste’ and alleged government officials indulging in corruption.
Silarpur, once close to Bhartiya Janashakti chief Uma Bharti in a letter to the State BJP organising general secretary Kaptan Singh Solanki alleged that for ‘some unknown reasons’ he and his followers were being harassed.
The collector, superintendent of police and other officials were ignoring his suggestions and recommendations, he said in his letter.
The MLA has sent copies of the letter to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former party president L K Advani, national president Rajnath Singh, State BJP president Satyanarayan Jatia and chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The MLA alleged in the letter, a copy of which is available with Hindustan Times that government officials were indulging in corruption. “I can produce evidence in this connection,’ he has claimed. ‘I am finding it difficult to live with dignity and self-esteem,’ the MLA said in his letter.
When contacted Silarpur, however refused to divulge details about his allegations and expressed surprise that his letter had been leaked to the press.
The State BJP organising general secretary Kaptan Singh Solanki said that a three-member committee headed by Ramkrishna Kusmaria MP has been formed to look into the MLA’s allegations.
The letter before the Bada Malehra assembly by-poll assumes significance as lodhi caste, to which Silarpur belongs, dominates the electorate in the constituency.
