In a communiqué issued on Wednesday, Vyas said now that both the institutions have come completely under the control of AU hence the varsity authorities are now duty bound to improve and streamline their working conditions.

He regretted the workings in the SRN Hospital. “There are complaints of neglect in the treatment and care of patients. Security arrangements are almost nil while cleanliness of the place leaves a lot to be desired,” he said.

Vyas further added that conditions in the Motilal Nehru Medical College hostel are worse than SRN with pigs roaming in the mess area where food is cooked for students. “Clean drinking water is not available. There is no proper arrangement of library and sports also. The students are in a state of helplessness due to lack of necessary facilities,” he rued.

“When the Union Human Resources Ministry is providing sufficient funds for proper management of the medical college and SRN hospital and the salaries of the doctors and employees of these institutions are being paid by the university, then the authorities of the Allahabad University should also take immediate steps for improvement in their working as per the needs of the general public,” he concluded.
