Mobike-borne youths rob two of cell, cash

TWO PERSONS were robbed in separate incidents late on Wednesday night. One of them was robbed of a cell phone, cash and gold chain, while the other lost some cash.

TWO PERSONS were robbed in separate incidents late on Wednesday night. One of them was robbed of a cell phone, cash and gold chain, while the other lost some cash.

In the first incident, N P Raghuvanshi, 59, a BHEL employee, was returning home on his scooter after buying vegetables when two motorcycle-borne youths, who had covered their faces, waylaid him near Neerja Nagar.

One of the accused wielded a long knife and asked Raghuvanshi to part with his belongings but he resisted and during the struggle he got injured in the hand. The duo fled with petty cash, as Raghuvanshi did not have any valuables. The Piplani police are investigating the case.

A little while later a youth, Manoj Sharma, who works as manager with a gutka factory, was returning home in the night when his phone rang and he stopped to receive the call on JK Road. Meanwhile, the two motorcycle-borne youths came from behind and snatched his costly Nokia 6600 cell phone, Rs 4,700 cash and a gold chain before fleeing.

The duo was on a blue motorcycle and it is suspected robbers in both the incidents were same. The Ashoka Garden police are looking into the matter. More than half-a-dozen robberies and snatchings have occurred in the first ten days of the month alone.
