A moderate intensity earthquake, measuring 5.5 on Richter scale, shook the Mizoram-Myanmar border region, the Meteorological Department said.

The quake, which occurred at 2253 IST on Thursday, was epicentred at a latitude of 23.9 degree north and a longitude of 93.3 degree east, the meteorological office said.

There were no immediate reports of any damage or casualty.
