Modi elected leader of Gujarat legislature party

Narendra Modi has been unanimously elected as the leader of the Gujarat BJP Legislature Party and will be sworn in as the Chief Minister on Tuesday for a third consecutive term.

Narendra Modi was on Monday unanimously elected as the leader of the Gujarat BJP Legislature Party in Gandhinagar and will be sworn in as the Chief Minister on Tuesday for a third consecutive term.

All 117 newly-elected BJP MLAs held a meeting at the Town Hall in Gandhinagar where they formally chose Modi as their leader.

Modi's election by the Legislature Party has formally paved the way for him to become the chief minister for the third consecutive term.

The swearing-in ceremony of the 57-year-old Modi as chief minister will take place on Tuesday at the Sardar Patel stadium here.

The ceremony will be coinciding with the birthday of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Earlier, Modi was scheduled to be sworn in on December 27.
