"The news of devastating earthquake has given all of us here a jolt. I express my sympathy for all those who have been affected," Modi said.

"Gujarat government is ready to extend all possible help.

"I have told the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA) teams to be at ready, and as and when the Central government or any state government calls, we will send the teams.

"Gujarat has suffered a worst earthquake and all the world had then helped us. Now, when other parts of the country have suffered, Gujarat government and people will try their best to help," said Modi, who is on 3-day fast in Ahmedabad for harmony in the state.
