Addressing a gathering here at Marketing yard in Gondal about 36 km from Rajkot, Modi lauded his government's efforts for launching various welfare schemes for the poor but alleged that the schemes launched by the state government could not achieve the target because of Centre's policies.
The union government has the solution to bring down the spiralling prices but the government doesn't want to bring them down, he said.
He also criticised Rahul Gandhi for taking food at poor people's home. Without mentioning his (Rahul) name Modi said taking food at poor's home does not help to reduce poverty but necessary steps should be taken.
He said in past 60 years various governments announced various schemes but none of the schemes really reached to the needy people but Gujarat government is keen to implement the schemes properly.
Modi was in Gondal to distribute financial aid to nearly 50,000 people of nine talukas in Rajkot district where he distributed cheques and equipments worth Rs 56 crore as part of the government sponsored "Garib Kalyan Mela" (poor welfare scheme).
