Gandhi has been criss-crossing the state ever since he kicked off the party campaign for the crucial assembly elections from Phulpur, Allahabad, on November 14, the birth anniversary of his great grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru who represented the constituency thrice.

As he wrapped up the day on Wednesday with a rally at Tanda in Ambedkar Nagar district, Gandhi had addressed 106 public meetings in different parts of the state that is the fifth largest in India in terms of area, and the first in terms of population.

"His extensive campaigning has not only galvanised the party but also triggered panic in the BSP and SP camps," a senior leader said.

With more than a month left for the last phase of the election, Gandhi is expected to create a record of sorts.
