MP: Hardcore criminal involved in petrol pump owner’s murder shot dead

A hardcore criminal Ravi alias Shera Kirar (25), allegedly involved in over a dozen of murder cases including ASI RK Gautam on December 2, was shot during a brief encounter with police near Laxmangarh area (Jhansi highway) on city’s outskirts on Friday morning.

Shera and his gang were also allegedly involved in the killing of a petrol pump owner in Morena on December 9.Police recovered one .32 calibre pistol, 2 magazines, some cash and a bike from the encounter site while one of his accomplices managed to escape.

A reward of Rs 30,000 was announced on him by Gwalior and Chambal range police after Shera and his gang killed several people here.

SSP Santosh Kumar Singh said the brief encounter with Ravi alias Shera Kirar, resident of Morena district, took place near Laxmangarh area on Gwalior-Jhansi highway between 6.30 am and 7.10 am on Friday.

On a tip off, police encircled the area and challenged the duo, who were on a motorbike, to surrender. But they fired at the police party. Police also retaliated and shot Ravi alias Shera while another accomplice managed to flee the spot. Other accomplices, including Vickky Balmik and Sonu who worked in tandem with Ravi, had been gunned down by police on December 7.

According to information, Shera was allegedly involved in several cases of murders including constable Veekesh Gurjar in Deendayal Nagar under Maharajpura police station, ASI RK Gautam in Shabd Pratap Ashram, petrol pump owner Girraj Agrawal in Morena, building material trader Ashok Rajoria in Jaura of Morena district.

Following Ravi’s death, Morena bandh call on Friday by business community was called off. Earlier sensational murder of a petrol pump owner Girraj Agrawal (42), son of Harishankar Agrawal in Morena on December 9 allegedly by Shera and his goons, had prompted the business community to call for Morena bandh.

On Friday, a delegation of business community led by state president of Vyapar Prakostha, Ramesh Garg, visited SSP Santosh Kumar Singh at Gwalior to congratulate him for police success. They have invited Singh and his team members to Morena for felicitation by business community there.
