The Sri Lankan President, Mahinda Rajapaksa, on Wednesday described the serial blasts in Mumbai on July 11, as a "major tragedy" and said it was time there was collective international action against the "cowardly acts of terrorism."

He had sent a message to this effect to the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Rajapaksa told heads of media organisations here.
"These attacks should impress on all peace loving countries and peoples of the world of the need for close and concerted action to combat the menace of terrorism which is now affecting an increasing number of countries of the world."
"There is a need to combine and coordinate the work of all countries against these cowardly acts of terrorism," he said.
