BRIJMOHAN LALL Munjal, chairman of Hero Honda Motors Limited, will be the chief guest at the 20th annual convocation of the Indian Institute of Management-Lucknow (IIM-L) on Saturday.
For the IIM-L community, convocation is a significant milestone. It sends an annual reminder of the progress that the premier management institute has made since 1984.
Now, with over 2300 alumni, the institute touched another milestone by launching the three-year postgraduate programme (PGP) for working executives (with an intake of 62) in June 2006 at its Noida campus. The IIM-L director Professor Devi Singh now plans to start global management programme for middle level executives at Noida by 2007. Besides, a National Faculty Development Centre and Centre For Entrepreneurial Venture is also likely to be set up at IIM-L’s Noida campus.
This year also saw the first Agri Business Management batch pass out during the placement week where a record 249 graduating students were successfully placed this year with top recruiters.
What’s more, as many as 68 Management Development Programmes (MDPs) for 1500 top and senior level management executives have already been conducted so far. Corporate houses from Sri Lanka, Oman, Bangladesh etc are now showing keen interest in conducting programmes through IIM-L. A new state of the art MDP center is also likely to come up soon at the management campus.
IIM-L continued to march ahead with the Centre for Entrepreneurial Ventures offering short duration programmes for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises. The Centre is also organizing a conference on Entrepreneurial Finance during 2006-7.
IIM-L Centre for Leadership and Human Values, also conducted two important programmes this year. The first was the eighth international workshop on value-based leadership, which attracted participants from around the globe including CEOs from prominent organisations. The second workshop called ‘Leading Schools’ brought several school administrators, faculty members and students to the IIM campus.
