Munna Bajrangi aide in CBI custody

THE SLEUTHS of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have taken into custody a close associate of dreaded mafia don Munna Bajrangi, accused in the murder of BJP legislator Krishnanand Rai from Mau, on Sunday.

THE SLEUTHS of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have taken into custody a close associate of dreaded mafia don Munna Bajrangi, accused in the murder of BJP legislator Krishnanand Rai from Mau, on Sunday.

Sources said CBI sleuths picked up one Rakesh Pandey from his residence in Mau district on Sunday and was produced before the court in Ghazipur on the same day. There are reports that a pistol was recovered from the possession of Pandey which belonged to slain Krishnanand Rai and had gone missing from the site after the murder attack on November 29, 2005. However, CBI officials when contacted at Ghazipur camp office denied recovery of any such weapon from Pandey’s possession.

Pandey is alleged to have given asylum to some shooters who had executed murder of Rai on November 29. However, CBI officers are tightlipped on the incident. On Sunday also the CBI sleuths had conducted raids at the residences of some of the kins and associates of Ansari brothers, accused in Rai’s murder.

Three arrested: Police arrested three notorious miscreants and recovered three pistols and a looted Marshal jeep from their possession in Alinagar area of Chandauli district today. The arrested miscreants linked to a mafia gang of Bihar were coming to Varanasi to commit a henious crime. They are being interrogated in the police station.

Probe ordered: District magistrate Rajiv Agarawal has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the recovery of voter identity cards from a public place in Dashwaswamedh area on Sunday. These cards had been issued in year 1995.

The administrative officials are engaged checking records in the election office to check whether the cards had been issued to valid voters or not? The chief development officer would shortly submit his report to the DM on the matter.
