The murder of national level wrestler Praveen Yadav, his wife and sister-and-law was solved with the identification of their bodies that were fished out of a canal, police said on Thursday. Three people accused in the case have been arrested.Praveen Yadav, 30, his wife Vibha Yadav, 25, and sister-in-law Vaishali Yadav, 6, residents of Rohini area of Delhi, were allegedly murdered by one of their relatives in a bid to seize their property, police said.
According to police, Vaishali and Vibha did not have any brother and after the death of their father Lok Pal the entire property was transferred in the name of the two sisters and Praveen Yadav who was a national level wrestler and a small time realtor.
One of Pal's relatives Amrik Singh had his eye on the property and, in a bid to acquire it, conspired to kill Praveen Yadav and the two sisters, police said.
On April 9, Singh called Praveen Yadav, Vibha Yadav and Vaishali Yadav to his Mangolpuri residence for dinner and poisoned their food, police said. Singh then along with two accomplices packed their bodies in a car, police added.
"Amrik and his men travelled with the bodies to Noida, then to Pilakhuwa, followed by Garh, and then to Simbhaoli. When they found the drains in these areas dried up, they then headed towards Kithor, located some distance away from Simbhaoli, where they found a flowing canal and dumped the three bodies into it," Superintendent of Police (Rural), K.K. Asthana said.
After a case of kidnapping was registered at Rohini police station on Praveen Yadav's father Dheer Singh's complaint, the Delhi Police arrested Amrik Singh and two others on suspicion.
On April 10 the bodies of two females were found by the Simbhaoli police in the drain. Two days later, April 12, one more body, of a man, was fished out from the canal.
During the course of interrogation Singh confessed to having murdered Praveen Yadav, Vibha Yadav and Vaishali Yadav. The police took Singh to identify the bodies on Wednesday.
