Mushfiqur Rahman is one of the few genuine all-rounders for Bangladesh. A medium pacer of the same mould as Khaled Mahmud, the two had a stiff competition for their position in the team.
Like Mahmud, he does not bowl with a lot of pace but is known for his nagging line and length.
He first came onto the scene in the late '90s as part of the one-day team. In his early internationals he made Sachin Tendulkar his pet project, having taken his wicket in twice.
He has often been called upon to be the new ball operator for Bangladesh but his ideal spot is first change.
During the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy's tour of Bangladesh in January 2001, he showed remarkable batting abilties and a century highlighted his abilities for the longer form of the game.
After a forgettable stint for a couple of years and spending some time in the wilderness, Mushfiqur came back to form against the visiting English team during the 2003 tour.
While Bangladesh eventually lost both Tests of the series, his batting epitomised the new steel to Bangladesh's performances in international cricket.
