MUSLIMS ARE gearing up to organise a rally at Mian Sahib Islamia Inter College on February 25 in protest against caricatures published by a Danish daily.
MUSLIMS ARE gearing up to organise a rally at Mian Sahib Islamia Inter College on February 25 in protest against caricatures published by a Danish daily.

Pesh Imam Jama Masjid Maulana Abdul Jalili Mazahiri will lead the rally. Muslims from different parts of the city will reach the venue in groups. Markazi Jamat-e-Ulema national vice-president Maulana Afzalul Haq Qasimi appealed for closure all madrasas and educational institutions on the day.
A meeting of members of the Movement for Peace and Social Justice was held at Islamia College of commerce. The participants expressed satisfaction that traders in various localities were willing to pull down their shutters to express solidarity with the rallyists.
Physician Dr Aziz Ahmad said capitalist forces had launched a drive to hurt sentiments of Muslims.
He said it was ridiculous to justify such blasphemy in the name of freedom of expression.
Social activists Pervez and Maulana Shaukat Noori appealed to people to maintain peace during the rally. They said cool-headed personalities of the respective areas should keep an eye on the youth marching towards Islamia College. Presiding over the meeting, Dr Nafees Rizvi expressed concern over continuous attack on religious sentiments of the people and said it should be condemned by all. Meanwhile, Minority Welfare and Development Corporation director Zafar Amin Dakku appealed to people to show restraint during such demonstrations. Bazm-e-Adab president Afzal Ahmad also condemned the caricatures and appealed to traders to pull down their shutters.
