The incident was reported around 6 p.m. on Saturday. The girl, identified as Bharti Kumari, was a student of Class IV at the local government school.
Bharti was last seen playing with her younger sister Kiran (12) inside their single dwelling house in Jwala Nagar on Saturday around 5 pm.
After some time Kiran moved out to play outside. After half an hour when her brother Raja entered the room he found her with her dupatta around her neck.
“She was alone in the room for only half an hour. We never pressurised her for studies. She was playing with her younger sister and was found dead after sometime,” said Amitabh Kumar, the girl's father.
While Kumar is a rickshaw puller, his wife works at a nearby factory. They were not present at home when the incident took place.
Police have sent the body for postmortem examination.
“The fan is too rickety to take her load. Her feet was on the ground and we refuse to believe it was a suicide,” said the girl’s father.
