Members of the team are AD Mahopadhaya, Prof Madhu Sudan Pillai, PVS Prasad, Supriya Chaudhari, V Vainkayyia and RC Jain.

The team members began the assessment process from the computer department today.

They seemed to be more impressed by new blocks and infrastructure provided in each department but they felt the need of more faculty members to impart effective education. One of the department heads could not explain the concept of e-learning to the committee members and had to cut a sorry figure before them.

The committee members did not divulge their observations but they definitely praised the role of the varsity in raising the standard of education.

The university authorities had also organised a cultural meet for the committee members.

Last year, the NAAC committee also visited two city colleges to assess their performance. As per the directives of the UGC, each affiliated varsity and college should have to qualify the NAAC inspection to receive accreditation and future grants.

The varsities and colleges, which failed to meet the standard would not be allowed to exist.
