All the passengers are safe as the incident happened while the plane was taxiing on the runaway. The plane landed at its usual time at 8.25 am but the return flight was delayed by six hours. The flight had to be rescheduled at 3.15pm.

Airport sources confirmed that the commander of the plane noticed the deflated tyre only after landing. As per procedure, the Director General of Civil Aviation has ordered a probe into the incident.

A Jet Airways spokesperson said the airline always makes “attempts to rectify a technical snag at the earliest by flying down spares needed from the nearest destination.”
