No one was injured in the incident.

According to railway sources, 309 Ambala-Saharanpur MEMU Passenger departed from Ambala Cantt railway station at around 2:30 pm and reached Tandwal railway station at around 3:20 pm.

When the train started from Tandwal railway station, the coupling of a bogie next to the engine broke all of a sudden and the remaining bogies of the train got detached.

The engine driver travelled for one km bringing it to a halt. The engine along with the bogie was brought back to the railway station.

A railway official said that there could have been a big mishap if the coupling of the bogie had got disconnected in a moving train.

The passengers were taken to their destination by another train.
