Nationwide bank strike on July 28

The protest is against the union government's policy of bank privatisation and outsourcing.

A majority of bank employees in the country will go on strike on July 28, in response to a call by bank unions, protesting against the the union government's policy of bank privatisation and outsourcing.

The strike call was given by the All India Bank Employees Association, All India Bank Officers' Association and Bank Employuees' Federation of India, Union leaders K Chandrasekharan Nair and Jacob Mathew told reporters in Thiruvananthapuram.

"People's money will be exposed to manipulation and speculation by foreign capital amd outsourcing will affect the jobs of bank employees," Nair said.

Outsourcing would also endanger the secrecy and security of the customers' transactions, he added.
