Condemning NCP leader Ratnakar Mahajan's view advocating the party's merger with Congress, the NCP Pune unit has passed a resolution demanding his expulsion.
"Mahajan's statement is a result of his personal frustration following failure to get a certain post. He has lost touch with the NCP grassroot workers and has no support from party ranks", party spokesman Anukush Kakde said on Wednesday, adding the city unit had passed a resolution demanding Mahajan's expulsion from the party.
Mahajan, who has been with NCP since its inception, on Tuesday, wrote a letter to party president Sharad Pawar expressing his view that the party should merge with Congress as the issue of Sonia Gandhi's "foreign origin" that led to its breaking away, was no more alive.
