In the backdrop of exit poll projections that NDA would fall short of majority in Lok Sabha elections, alliance convener and Defence Minister George Fernandes today said NDA doors "are always open" for old allies.

"Our doors are always open. Doors should always be open in politics", he told NDTV in reply to a question whether doors were open for NDA's old allies.
Fernandes, however, said "I am sure of the NDA forming the government."
The statement assumes significance in the light of exit polls suggesting that the NDA might fall short of the required 272 seats which would give them a simple majority.
Various NDA leaders have in recent days made statements which indicate that the alliance may be forced to look for more allies.
