"The BJP, which is leading the NDA government at the centre, had collected thousands of rupees for Lok Sabha elections from capitalists," Chautala alleged addressing an election meeting in support of his party candidate Major General Bhim Singh Suhag (retired), at Sampla town in Hassangarh assembly segment of Rohtak parliamentary constituency yesterday.
Those who had given large amounts of money to the ruling party at the centre were recovering their money from common people by raising prices of various articles of common use, including sugar, diesel, petrol, cement, steel and cooking gas, the INLD chief said dubbing BJP as "a party of capitalists."
Alleging that the NDA government in the last budget gave several relaxations to rich people by lowering tax rates on various luxury items like air-conditioners and mobile telephones, Chautala said, the budget did not provide any relief to over 80 per cent of the population including farmers and labourers.
The Chief Minister offered his apologies for not being successful in fulfilling the expectations of the people and urged them not to take revenge in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
