As part of its tourism promotion efforts, Nepal Tourism Board is holding discussions with various private airlines to operate direct flights between Kathmandu and south Indian cities.
"Since there is no direct connectivity between Nepal and south India, efforts are on to begin flight services from cities like Bangalore," Manager Tourism Marketing and Promotion Department Board Ujjwala Dali said.
She also revealed plans of the Board to come out with an aggressive advertisement campaign to promote Nepal as a premier tourism destination.
The "new face" of Nepal would be promoted with a new brand promotion campaign which would be unveiled in New Delhi in the last week of February, she said.
The "Nepal brand" would also be launched in the global market during the International Tourism Meet at Berlin in March.
When asked whether the unrest in Nepal had affected the inflow of tourists, she said "though the Kingdom felt the pinch from March to May in 2005, the numbers have picked up since June."
