New-age nomads to propagate love, green cause in Kumbh
Some 800 newage nomads from across the world will be camping in Kumbh this month. Committed to principles of non-violence and egalitarianism, the group members will be gathering under the banner of 'rainbow family of living light' and spread the message of love, unity and green environment.

“This is no newborn organisation but a continuation of a 1970s counter-culture, a bunch of peace-loving activists who aspire to rid the world of war and suffering through hugs and affection,” says Panama Baba who along with Govind Baba are leading the efforts to get people from all over the globe to participate in this once-in-12-year fair. The group will have people from the US, Russia, Japan, Spain, South Africa, Thailand and Italy.
"We are in negotiation with the mela administration to secure land for our camp. From January 27 onwards, we will be camping here for a month,” says Panama Baba who had been here during the Ardh Kumbh in 2007.
“Then, we were spectators. This time we are coming with a mission of spreading love,” he clarifies.
"Even if we fail to get land for our camp, we will stay outside the mela area but still carry out our mission of serving the poor and spreading the message of love and ecology protection," he added.
Dr Kashiap, another key figure in organising the 'rainbow love camp' says anybody who participates in, or sympathises with, the activities of this group can join the family.
“All rainbow gatherings are held with an open invitation to people of all walks of life, and of all beliefs, to share experiences, love, dance, music, food, and learning,” he says.
“Our group is the largest non-organisation of nonmembers in the world,” he insists while explaining that they prefer to call their group a "disorganisation" as there are no official leaders, structure, spokespersons, or formal membership.
