Model Neha Kapoor, who made her de but last year, says she got a strong foothold in the industry because of the LIFW. "It was my first fashion season. I worked with top designers, big choreographers and make-up artists," she recalls.
Krishna Somani, Sohini Jaitley, Himani Thapa, Tanvi Singh, Deepika Padukone, Monikangkana Dutta and Kiran Vajpey, are some women models making their debut this time. The male debutantes include Aryan Biju Baruah, Bharat Arora, Amit Rampal and Sunny Arora.
Dutta, roped in by the FDCI this year, says that the experience really counts. "You get to showcase your talent to the world," she says.
Designer Leena Singh, part of the jury that selected the new models, says that LIFW opens many doors for the participants. "If you work with sincerity and dedication, there are many corporate houses that can give you a good break," says Singh.
Debutante Tanvi Singh thinks that getting through LIFW is a tough task. Still it's worth the effort. Model Himani Thapa, another debutante, adds that the LIFW stamp takes a model places.
Designer Varun Bahl, who has moved on from doing the penultimate slot last year to the finale this time round, says his LIFW debut helped him reach out to such a large base of people. Kolkata designer Shantanu Goenka says LIFW provides a big push in the global market.
