According to a CAIT release, Amrit Lal Bansal was appointed treasurer. Rajesh Bansal and Satender Jain would be the new joint secretary generals while Ramesh Ahuja would be the secretary.

The appointments are for a two year term.

A two-day national conference of trade leaders, attended by representatives from 26 states, also decided to observe August 9 as 'Traders' Day' every year, it stated.

The conference strongly criticised the FDI in retail trade and termed it a serious blow to domestic trade and an attempt by multinationals to capture the vast retail trade of India.

CAIT has formed a National Coordination Committee against FDI in retail with Federation of Association of Maharashtra president Mohan Gurnani as its convenor, the release added.
