THE DISTRICT police have formed several teams to ensure foolproof security at the sensitive Sankat Mochan temple to foil terrorist attempts on it. The new system would be implemented from Tuesday.

As part of upgraded security arrangements, three mobile police teams would cover the forest, outer and inner areas of the temple spread over 12 bighas of land. Besides, a sub-inspector has been appointed as temple security in charge.
This decision was taken by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Ashutosh Pandey after reviewing security arrangements on Monday afternoon. The SSP was in the temple for nearly two hours and carried out a minute examination of the temple from the security point of view.
The SSP said as the vast jungle around the temple could be a potential danger area, therefore, a jungle police team would be formed to patrol the area and check the infiltration into the main temple.
Besides, two other mobile teams would continuously patrol the outer and inner areas of the temple apart from the deployment of a PAC platoon, jawans of police and six sub-inspectors working in different shifts. “A sub-inspector ranked cop was in charge of Sankat Mochan police outpost situated just outside the temple and was directly looking after the security of temple. However, since he also has the responsibility of checking crime in his area with many other assignments, a decision has been taken to appoint a sub-inspector as temple security in charge with the sole responsibility of inner and outer security of the temple complex,” the SSP told Hindustan Times.
The SSP indicated private security guards of the temple management looking after the inner security would be licensed by the police. The SSP ordered removal of many makeshift shops outside the temple. The order was implemented immediately.
Devotees had been killed and injured when a bomb had exploded in the temple on March 7. Since then the administration and temple management were worried about the security arrangements of the temple to avoid such terrorist incidents in the future.
