New trophies for Vikram awards

DIRECTOR, SPORTS, Sanjay Chaudhary today inspected Ravindra Bhavan, venue of the Vikram awards function. The awards ceremony would be held on September 11. International marksman Manavjeet Singh would be the chief guest on the occasion.

While inspecting the premises, Chaudhary directed the officials concerned to put in their best efforts. “Vikram awards are coveted sports awards of the State. We want to give our best to the recipients,” he said.

For the first time in the history of Sports Department the Vikram awards function is being held biannually. Just six months back, the department had organised a function to present awards for the year 2004-05.

According to sources, the Sports Department is keen to organise the awards function every year. Earlier, it was not held regularly.

New trophies: The sports department has prepared new trophies this year. This step has been taken to make the awards more attractive.
