The gunmen fired at the office of Paojel, an evening newspaper, at around 7:50 p.M. Last evening, they said.

The district senior superintendent of police visited the newspaper office to enquire about the incident, police said, adding, the newspaper had not reported any threat from any quarter.

Meanwhile, a team of the All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) met Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh late last evening in this regard, an AMWJU spokesman said.

No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility for the incident.
