Taking suo-motu cognizance of a media report, NHRC has asked for comments from the Chief Secretary and Secretary, Labour Department, National Capital Territory of Delhi that children are still employed in a number of places here despite a ban on child labour two months back, a release said.
The Commission said if the contents of the reports are true, they raise a serious issue of violation of human rights of children, the release said adding it has given four weeks time to the two officials.
The Commission has also taken a serious view of the reported failure of the government to open any Transition Education Centres (TECs) for rescued child labourers and lack of trained teacher for disabled in government schools, the release added.
