Night cleaning drive from today

SIX MAIN roads of the city have been selected by Nagar Nigam in first phase for night cleaning scheduled to begin from March 12. District Magistrate and Administrator of Allahabad Nagar Nigam, Amrit Abhijat, will inaugurate the night cleaning drive at 9.30 pm.

The roads selected in the first phase include from historic Neem tree Chowk to Civil Lines via Johnstonganj, from Sulaki crossing to Shahganj, from Tulsidas statue crossing on MG Marg to High Court crossing, Sardar Patel Marg, Lal Bhadur Shashtri Marg and Maharana Pratap Statue crossing to Luxmi Talkies crossing in Katra.

The cleaning work will be carried out on these roads from 9 pm to 1.30 am. The Administrator has appealed to the citizens to dump their garbage in front of their houses, commercial establishments by 9 pm so that it may be removed during the night cleanliness drive. If full cooperation is not given by the citizens then the NN alone can not take responsibility of keeping the city clean, said the administrator. The administrator has directed removal of 'malwa' (house construction waste material) lying on road sides in the city by March 16.
