Nine "baratis" killed in road accident in Assam
Nine persons from the bridegroom's side were killed and five others critically injured this morning in a head-on collision between a truck and a car in Assam's Kamrup (rural) district.

The speeding vehicles collided at Gobardhan area of the district killing seven people on the spot as two others died on their way to hospital.
Five other persons injured in the mishap have been admitted to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital, where their condition is stated to be critical.
There were 14 passengers in the sports utility vehicle (SUV) escorting the bridegroom and the bride, who were in another vehicle.
The drivers of both the vehicles are absconding.
The persons who died on the spot have been identified as Lalit Kumar, Biju Das, Dipak Das, Padmeshwar Das, Satya Rajbongshi, Dinesh Konwar and Jainul Fazal, while the identity of two others are yet to be ascertained.
