Nitin Nanda wins gold

AFTER ANKIT Pachauri, who won two gold medals for MP in the ongoing 17th National Kayaking and Canoeing Championship, Nitin Nanda added made it the list on Friday by winning a gold in the K-1 men?s category of the 500 m section.

AFTER ANKIT Pachauri, who won two gold medals for MP in the ongoing 17th National Kayaking and Canoeing Championship, Nitin Nanda added made it the list on Friday by winning a gold in the K-1 men’s category of the 500 m section.

The championship is being organised at Water Sports Centre of Sports Directorate, Upper Lake. Sports Directorate is organising the meet. In the K-1 event, it was neck-and-neck competition between Natin and Sachin Kumar of Army Sports Control Board (ASCB). The close contest between them could be gauged from the fact that Nitin won the race with timing 2.05 minutes, which was just .01 seconds better than Sachin.

Ankit Pachauri, who have been outstanding for last two days, had to satisfy with the silver medal in the C-2 section. After this win, MP won three gold medals and is in the fourth position. Subeesh of Kerala came third in the same category.

On the third day of the championship, teams of Kerala and Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) grabbed first position in most of the categories. Kerala team stood first in the six different categories.

The team won in the K-2 junior girls’ 500m section (Indumol, Teena), K-4 senior women 500 m section (Bindu, Jessymol, Kochumol, Libimol), K-4 junior girls’ 500m section (Libimol, Jisha, Indumol, Josna Yohannan), K-1 junior girls’ 500m section (Shilpamol), K-4 junior girls’ 500m (Libimol, Jisha James, Indumol, Josna) and K-1 senior girls’ 500m section (Minimol).
