“All Union ministers and other VIPs are welcome to Madhya Pradesh,” Chouhan said in a letter to Union Tribal Affairs Minister Kantilal Bhuria.

Bhuria had recently drawn Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s attention to a circular issued by the state government on April 24, stating that Union ministers have to seek the state government’s approval to attend any development-related function in Madhya Pradesh.

The circular triggered protests from the Union ministers from Madhya Pradesh.

Chouhan said in his letter to Bhuria that the circular was issued to government officers, including collectors and department heads, to ensure better security and hospitality arrangements for visiting Union ministers.
