No CBI remand for Amit Shah

The special court hearing the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case on Wednesday rejected the CBI's plea for five-day custody of Gujarat's former minister of state for home, Amit Shah.

Shah, one of the 15 accused in the case, will remain in judicial custody.

On August 2, the CBI had argued before the court that Shah's "non-cooperative approach during judicial questioning" necessitated his custodial interrogation.

Terming the reasons cited by the agency "mere allegations", the court said the CBI had already interrogated Shah for three days in Sabarmati Central Jail where he is lodged.
