The water crisis started at the hospital about a month back when a newly installed tube well suddenly went out of order. The other two tube wells were also not working due to which the water supply was made through a water tank. This led to a serious water crisis in the hospital, with major surgeries getting cancelled and patients migrating to other hospitals.

A junior doctor said that due to the crisis mess is still not functioning properly. On Saturday, one more surgery was cancelled at the orpthopaedic OT due to the same reason..

"The hospital toilets are lying in a dirty state but there is no one to look into the matter seriously" he said.

However, when the hospital staff raised the issue and threatened to go on strike the administration arranged Jal Santhan's two water tankers on Friday. But owing to heavy demand most of the patients and their attendants were forced to bring water from a hand pump outside the hospital.

About one thousand staff living in the hospital campus are also facing heavy inconvenience due to the shortage of water supply.

"On Saturday our officiating chief medical superintendent Dr VK Koyal informed that he has already made a complaint to the Jal Sansthan and the tube well will be soon repaired. He said he was making best of his efforts to restore the normal supply," said nurses association district president Safia Khatun.

Khatun said today a circular was issued informing that there will be no water supply on the SRN Hospital campus. "We thought the tube well was being repaired due to which we were given such a instruction. But much to our surprise we again received the supply from the water tank indicating that no repair work was carried out by the Jal Sansthan. It seems the problem will continue for another few days," she added.
