An elderly woman Chedana (58) died of gastroenteritis in the locality on Wednesday. She was admitted to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia hospital five days ago with nausea and other symptoms of diarrhoea. She became stable and was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday. But on coming back home the symptoms relapsed and complications developed leading to her death. The total number of deaths in the past one week due to gastroenteritis has gone up to three.

Meanwhile, a dozen fresh cases were admitted to different hospitals from the same locality. The Jal Sansthan has made arrangements for supply of water and a fresh network of pipelines in the locality.

General manager Jal Sansthan DK Sharma said, “Water supply through illegal pipelines has been stopped. A new pipeline is being laid in the area as per directions of Mayor Dinesh Sharma.” Till the new pipeline is ready, the water would be supplied by Jal Sansthan tankers.
