Hockey India (HI) shot a letter to the Sports Authority of India (SAI) on Tuesday, requesting them to not give Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium on lease for the World Series Hockey (WSH).
HI stated that the dates of the WSH matches and the national camps for the Olympic qualifiers are clashing and the two events happening at the same venue would result in “mess and indiscipline”. The men's camp is starting from December 11.
Competing for the first time in what has been mostly an all-European event, a four-member Indian boxing team clinched two silver and a bronze medal at the 32nd International Tammer Invitational Tournament in Finland. Sumit Sangwan (81kg) and Madan Lal (52kg) won silver medals, while V Santhosh (64kg) settled for a bronze.
Namdhari XI beat PNB
Namdhari XI thrashed PNB 3-1 in the first game of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National hockey here on Tuesday. Harpreet Singh, Malak Singh and Talkwainder Singh scored a goal each for the winning side. In other matches ONGC were held to draw by IOC while Air India got the better of Army XI 4-2.
Saqib in the lead
Saqib Ahmed opened a two-shot advantage over Yashas Chandra on the opening day of Toyota IGU Western India Juniors Golf Championship at the BPGC on Tuesday. Saqib carded 69, while Yashas shot 71.
Also shooting 71 was Piyush Sangwan in Category B.
