Apropos of the editorial Seeing red in Pakistan (July 11), the action taken by General Pervez Musharraf in storming the Lal Masjid does not suggest a more moderate policy. India should not let down its guard. Terror camps in PoK are meant to keep India on tenterhooks.

Pervez Musharraf has succeeded in flushing out militants holed up in the Red Mosque. The killing of a senior Islamic cleric was part of an ingenious attempt at breaking the backbone of militancy. Now Musharraf should pave the way for democratic rule without basking in the glory of this operation.

A mosque is no place for bloodshed. In the fight between fundamentalists and Musharraf, many students have lost their lives.
