Vice President Shekhawat said there was no politics involved in his meeting with ailing NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat on Sunday said that there was nothing "political" in his Saturday meeting with ailing NCP chief Sharad Pawar in Delhi.
"Holding the second highest constitutional post, I just could not have any political objectives and means," Shekhawat told reporters at the airport in Kota, according to an official release.
"Since Pawar was good friend of mine, and as a courtesy I went to see him. It was a friendly gesture," he said, adding it should not be linked with politics.
Shekhawat said he had completely retired from active politics after assuming the present post and no political motive should be attributed to his visits to Rajasthan.
Pawar, who underwent a surgery on his jaw last month, returned from London on Friday where he had gone for a medical checkup.
