Noida woman jumps off Ghaziabad high-rise

A 55-year-old woman committed suicide after jumping off the 10-floor flat of an apartment at Niti Khand area of Indirapuram on Friday. She was apparently disturbed over a discord with her husband who is posted in Uttarakhand. HT reports.

The incident took place around 11 am when the woman, Maya Bhandari, a resident of Sector 71 Noida, and her son had come to meet some relatives at Nirala Eden Park apartments in Indirapuram.

"As soon as she reached the relative's house, she jumped off the 10th floor and sustained critical injuries. She was rushed to a private hospital where she died," circle officer (CO) Kamlesh Bahadur said.

Police said that victim's son later informed the police about the incident. He said there was some discord between the victim and her husband who is posted in Uttarakhand.

"She was perturbed that her husband had not visited her for the past few months. After we informed her husband about the incident, his mobile was switched off and he did not reply," the CO added.
